I felt in love, happy and gay
With just a tendency to run and play
So I gave you a push and I turned around
And I ran for dear life as you sat on the ground

Your dark bronze and familiar face
Had a look of rich mischief in its quiet place
And as I ran laughing with glee
You came on fast chasing me

I ran and I ran till I could run no more
My hair was entangled my feet were sore
I turned around to stop the game
But you weren't there - no one came!

And when I thought that you were gone
A figure from behind told me I was wrong
You turned me around with loving care
I laughed till I cried as you ruffled my hair
